Notre marionnette en Martinique, c'est le bwabwa, qui remplit bien ses fonctions après les élections et durant le Carnaval : moqueur et bouffon, il fait rire, réfléchir, mais dit aussi tout haut ce que tout le monde pense tout bas.
Si certaines traditions ancestrales se sont perdues le long de notre voyage transatlantique, il faut aujourd'hui réinscrire la marionnette dans notre culture, comme elle continue à exister dans les pays d’Afrique (et d'ailleurs elle existait aussi chez les Amérindiens). Apprivoisons-la et adaptons-la à notre monde créole. Pour cela, nous devons être créatif et la doter de nos matériaux. Elle doit refléter notre imaginaire et nos valeurs.
